Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often from families. If you don't see what you're looking for, reach out and we're happy to help.
Getting Started
Do I need a referral from my pediatrician?
No referral is required. You're welcome to reach out directly to schedule a free 15-minute discovery call or book a Feeding Consultation.
What's your approach to feeding therapy?
Kids Feeding Wellness combines clinical training in oral-motor and feeding therapy with an attachment-based, relationship-focused approach—reducing mealtime pressure and building the secure caregiver-child connection that real feeding progress depends on. Rather than working with your child in isolation, we work closely with you, since you're the person your child already trusts most.
What ages do you work with?
We work with children from birth through age 10.
What if my child has a more complex medical situation (tube feeding, GI issues, prematurity, etc.)?
We support children with medically complex feeding needs, working alongside your child's existing care team rather than in place of it. Visit our Complex & Medical Feeding page to learn more about how this works.
Do you offer in-person visits, or is everything virtual?
Both. Virtual feeding consultations and therapy are available for families throughout New York State, with in-home visits generally available within about a 5-mile radius of Astoria, Queens, depending on availability.
A travel fee based on distance and time may apply for in-home visits. Any applicable fee will always be shared with you before your appointment is confirmed.
What happens on the free 15-minute call?
We'll briefly discuss your concerns and help determine the most appropriate next step for your family—whether that's a full consultation, a specific service, or pointing you in another direction.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel an appointment?
Sessions can be rescheduled, though they aren't refunded. If something comes up, we're generally able to accommodate one reschedule; additional changes may require a new booking. We recommend reaching out as soon as you know you'll need to adjust your appointment, so we can find another time that works.
Services & Pricing
What's included in the Feeding Consultation & Personalized Feeding Plan?
This is a 90-minute session, available virtually or in-person, priced at $250. It's designed to help you understand why feeding feels hard for your child and leave with a personalized plan, a clearer understanding of what's happening, and more confidence moving forward.
How long does a full program typically take?
This varies quite a bit depending on your child and family's individual needs—there isn't a single fixed timeline. After your consultation or assessment, we'll recommend a plan and frequency tailored to your specific situation.
What if I just want occasional support between sessions?
Feeding Support Calls are available in three package sizes for brief, focused check-ins: a 2-call package, a 3-call package, and a 4-call package. Details and pricing for each are on our Services page.
What's included in the Comprehensive Feeding Assessment Program?
This is a more in-depth program, priced at $450 and completed virtually over approximately two weeks. It's designed for children who'd benefit from additional observation and support following an Initial Consultation.
Over the two weeks, you'll implement your child's individualized Home Feeding Program, complete a food journal, and submit home feeding videos, with two 20-minute check-in calls along the way for guidance. The program concludes with a 60-minute virtual follow-up to review your child's progress and refine their plan with next steps.
What are Guided Feeding Sessions?
These are 45–60 minute sessions ($175, virtual or in-person) for continuing to build your child's feeding skills through individualized coaching, live feeding support, and evidence-based strategies tailored to your family's goals. Each session is personalized based on your child's current abilities, progress, and priorities, and may include live feeding observation, parent coaching, skill development, problem-solving, home program updates, and individualized recommendations.
Before your session, you'll receive a Session Overview & Preparation Guide outlining what to have ready, so you can make the most of your time together. To schedule, reach out through our inquiry form and we'll get you set up.

Do you accept insurance?
