Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often from families. If you don't see what you're looking for, reach out and we're happy to help.
Getting Started
Do I need a referral from my pediatrician?
No referral is required. You're welcome to reach out directly to schedule a free 15-minute discovery call or book a Feeding Consultation.
What's your approach to feeding therapy?
Kids Feeding Wellness combines clinical training in oral-motor and feeding therapy with an attachment-based, relationship-focused approach—reducing mealtime pressure and building the secure caregiver-child connection that real feeding progress depends on. Rather than working with your child in isolation, we work closely with you, since you're the person your child already trusts most.
What ages do you work with?
We work with children from birth through age 10.
What if my child has a more complex medical situation (tube feeding, GI issues, prematurity, etc.)?
We support children with medically complex feeding needs, working alongside your child's existing care team rather than in place of it. Visit our Complex & Medical Feeding page to learn more about how this works.
Do you offer in-person visits, or is everything virtual?
Both. Virtual feeding consultations and therapy are available for families throughout New York State, and parent consulting is available worldwide. In-home visits are available in Astoria and surrounding areas, based on availability. A travel fee of $25 per 30 minutes of round-trip travel time applies, and it will always be shared with you before your appointment is confirmed.
What happens on the free 15-minute call?
We'll briefly discuss your concerns and help determine the most appropriate next step for your family—whether that's a full consultation, a specific service, or pointing you in another direction.
What happens after I book a consultation?
You’ll receive access to your client portal and intake forms. Once Argie has reviewed them, she’ll call you to schedule your consultation and explain what to have ready.
How soon can we start?
Consultations are typically scheduled within 1–3 weeks of booking, depending on availability. During busier periods it may take a little longer, and we’ll always let you know the expected timing.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel an appointment?
You can cancel or reschedule free of charge with more than 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice have a $50 late-cancellation fee, and the appointment can be rescheduled. Missed appointments, or arriving more than 10 minutes late without contacting us, are charged the full session fee (or the session is counted as used for prepaid services). If your child is unwell, an in-person appointment can be switched to virtual at no charge, and your first late-cancellation fee is waived once for sudden illness or emergencies.
Can I reach Argie between sessions?
Yes. Brief questions by email or secure message are welcome and are typically answered within 24–48 business hours. Messages aren’t monitored for emergencies, so please contact your pediatrician or emergency services for urgent medical concerns.
Services & Pricing
What's included in the Feeding Consultation + Personalized Feeding Plan?
This is a 90-minute session, available virtually or in-person, priced at $250. It's designed to help you understand why feeding feels hard for your child and leave with a personalized plan, a clearer understanding of what's happening, and more confidence moving forward.
How long does a full program typically take?
This varies quite a bit depending on your child and family's individual needs—there isn't a single fixed timeline. After your consultation, we'll recommend a plan and frequency tailored to your specific situation.
What if I just want occasional support between sessions?
Feeding Support Calls are brief 20-minute phone calls for families already working with Kids Feeding Wellness. A single call is $50, or a package of 3 is $135 ($45 per call, save 10%). You can book them on our Services page, and you’ll receive a link to schedule your first call after purchase.
What are Guided Feeding Sessions?
Guided Feeding Sessions continue building your child’s feeding skills through individualized coaching, live feeding support and feedback, and evidence-based strategies tailored to your family’s goals. Sessions are 30 minutes (virtual, $100) or 60 minutes (virtual or in-person, $175), and packages of 3 save 10% ($270 or $472.50). Before each session, you’ll receive a Session Overview & Preparation Guide so you can make the most of your time together. Guided Feeding Sessions are planned with Argie after your consultation and billed through your client portal.
Do you coordinate with my child’s other providers?
Yes. For children with multiple providers involved in their care, coordinating with your child’s broader medical team is often an important part of treatment. Virtual care team meetings are available at $75 per 30 minutes; the total depends on how many meetings are needed and how long they run.
Insurance & Payment
Do you accept insurance?
Kids Feeding Wellness is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance companies directly. Superbills can be provided upon request for eligible services, which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement—though reimbursement isn't guaranteed and depends on your individual plan.
For more detail on out-of-network benefits, superbills, and questions to ask your insurance provider, visit our Insurance & Reimbursement page.
How does payment work?
Certain services and packages are purchased in advance through our website. Ongoing clinical appointments are scheduled through our client portal, with a valid card kept on file for billing.
